I’m a practical wild woman. Kitchen alchemist. Seeker. Dreamer. Mulit-passionate creative. Hand drumming aficionado. Life-lover. I help folks heal their bellies, love their bodies, and get healthy and happy from the inside out.

SPECIALTIES

  • Disordered eating. Healing your relationship with food and your body

  • Digestion. Especially difficult, long-term digestive problems, whatever your specific medical diagnosis.

  • Anxiety, depression, seasonal affective disorder and restoring balance to a hectic modern life.

  • Skin conditions: Eczema and acne

I deeply appreciate my healthy body and my loving heart. My life is full of a lot of what I love most: Hikes in the woods, reading poetry and drinking tea in bed, puttering around the house, dancing, drumming and singing. And for my work I get to help cool people bring more ease and joy in their lives and experience waaay less suffering. This is what I always wanted.

I love my life, but it wasn’t the one I was handed. I created it myself.

I was a magical wild child with a deep soul-longing for communion with the natural world and for stirring music, dance, art, and ceremony. But, like many others, I grew up on fast food and TV. And, I watched helplessly as some of the people I was closest to suffered greatly from lifestyle diseases.  [Read More]

In my healing work, I draw from many sources, including Ayurveda. At one time most or all cultures in the world had a holistic medicine system that was widely known and deeply embedded in society and all parts of life. These systems understood food as medicine, used wild plants for healing, and gave instructions on how to live your daily life in a way that promoted balance and health.

In India that indigenous medicine became known as Ayurveda, or "The science of longevity." Ayurveda's history is almost as long and tangled as India's history generally, and Ayurveda has morphed a lot due to British colonial occupation, the push for Indian nationalism post-colonization, and globalization and spiritual and medical tourism from the West. What I learned in school here in the US is really a hybrid of many different practices and philosophies and could more accurately be called Western-style Ayurveda, or American Ayurveda. And....the tools I use directly from this Western-style Ayurveda training have proven very helpful in my life, for my own healing and that of my clients. So, I continue to use them.

I am currently doing research and exploration on decolonizing Ayurveda. On learning and teaching the real, messy, complex history of this medicine as well as on healing my own cultural wounding as a white American woman descended from immigrants and refugees, who lives on stolen land. This is what is being asked of us now. No simple answers, but lots of love and self-compassion.

If you want to learn more, I made up a little reading list:
